Puppet Making Courses 2021
Our workshop has become quite busy (which is a good thing!) But unfortunately its means we cannot run any courses at the moment.
We will try to find an opportunity to schedule some courses later in the year and if so will post dates on this page.

Puppet Head Patterning and Construction in Plastazote
Learn to pattern an animal head sculpt and to enlarge and assemble it in Plastazote.
Plastazote is a great material for puppet-making: lightweight and versatile, it can be patterned, carved, vac formed, heated, glued, textured, painted or covered to create all manner of puppets for indoors or outdoors, from the very small to the gigantic!
This five-day course is intended to offer an insight into a professional puppet making technique which has many applications. It offers participants an opportunity to develop invaluable processes and skills for making beautiful and usable contemporary puppets and to learn some of the key principles of puppet design.
Throughout the week we will also discuss and compare other puppet making materials and consider some techniques for constructing puppet bodies and different types of joints, whilst at all stages considering the challenges relevant to constructing puppets for theatre.
One–Person Puppet Design
Learn the principles of designing a one person operated puppet.
This three-day course is a wonderful opportunity to create a one person operated rabbit puppet, inspired by one of the puppets we created for Dr. Dolittle. The course covers a range of puppet making techniques using a variety of materials, including plastazote assembly from a given pattern, basic plastazote sculpting and simple armature construction in wood and aluminium. It offers participants an opportunity to develop invaluable processes and skills for making beautiful and usable contemporary puppets and to learn some of the key principles of puppet design.
